- Erie County (PA) Council Meeting Minutes Index, 1998-2001. Indexed and encoded minutes in HTML for posting on a public service Web site I created and maintained from 1999-2002. Developed an extensive name and subject authority list and indexing procedures manual. The Web site and index are still viewable on the Internet Wayback Machine site at www.archive.org by searching for members.aol.com/dgolso. Choose the Jan. 26, 2002 link to access the site. The index is accessible from the home page. This was a self-directed service project and was not undertaken in partnership with or endorsed by the county.
Library Projects
- Erie Canal Museum (Syracuse, NY). Project Cataloger (2006). Cataloged the museum's library collection using PastPerfectTM museum software. This project was funded by a NYS Library Regional Bibliographic Databases (RBDB) grant.
- Special Collections Research Center, Syracuse University Library (2000-2005):
Archival Processing Technician (temporary). Arranged and described the Werner Seligmann Papers, Marguerite Higgins Papers, John Spivak Papers, and William Gropper Papers.
Exhibition Curator. Curated two exhibitions based on collections processed: "On the Spot" With Pulitzer-Prize Winner Marguerite Higgins (1920-1966) and People Are My Landscape: Social Struggle in the Art of William Gropper. Both exhibitions may be viewed online at http://library.syr.edu/information/spcollections/exhibitions.htm.
Digital Projects Assistant (temporary). Encoded collection summaries in HTML; scanned 700+ glass plate negatives from the Erie Railroad Collection using PhotoShop, and transcribed by hand and using OCR software (OmniPage Pro 11 by Scansoft), 200+ broadsides and pamphlets from the Gerrit Smith Broadside and Pamphlet Collection. Both digitization projects were supported by NYS Library Regional Bibliographic Databases (RBDB) grants.
- Erie County Historical Society (Erie, PA). Project Archivist and Volunteer (1995-1997). Arranged and described the records of the Pennsylvania Population Company, verified and updated vertical file subject headings and assisted with processing manuscript collections.
- Erie County Public Library (Erie, PA). Librarian I (1996). Provided reference and readers' advisory services.
- Minnesota Historical Society (St. Paul, MN). Volunteer, Acquisitions and Curatorial Division and Research Library (1994-1995). Completed box inventories for donated congressional and senatorial papers, located repositories for de-accessioned materials, selected newspaper articles for the vertical file and assigned subject headings.
- Hallberg Information Services (White Bear Lake, MN). Library Assistant (1992-1993) for company providing staffing services to area libraries. Included assignment in the Research Center at Carlson Companies, Inc. headquarters.
- Minneapolis Public Library (Mpls., MN) (1991-1995). Substitute Librarian II (Main Branch). Provided reference services in the literature, special collections, history/genealogy, and business departments.
Municipal Information Library (City Hall). Cataloged city documents; provided reference services for city officials, employees, and the public; routed periodicals and legislative updates to city council members and officials; located and retrieved materials from area libraries to fulfill research requests.
Government Documents Department (Main Branch). Volunteer. Processed new materials and assisted staff with an inventory project.
- Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library (Ann Arbor, MI). Library Aide (1989-1990). Classified and cataloged new acquisitions, assigned subject descriptors to economic policy collections, and assisted with compiling the Guide to Historical Materials in the Gerald R. Ford Library (1991 edition).

- B.S. Economics, Elmira College (Elmira, NY), 1989. Emphasis on macroeconomics; studied U.S. economic policy in Washington, D.C. for one semester; tutor and teaching fellow.
- A.S. Business Administration, Monroe Community College (Rochester, NY), 1986. Attended evening classes while working part-time in a public library.
