While this site is very small I have created an index to serve as an example and detail a few key components.
Key Index Components:
- Links take you to a specific section within a page because anchors have been encoded into the page section headings or other portions of the text.
- Several main headings are included in the index to accomodate terminology used by different users (e.g. book indexes and indexes, books).
- Subheadings for these main headings mirror one another (factors affecting, list of projects, and specifications for).
- See cross-references are used to take the user from one term to a preferred term. The preferred term may be linked to another term within the index (e.g. newspaper indexes to the preferred term periodical indexes) or linked directly to content (e.g. contract for services to the preferred term letter of agreement). The former is used when subheadings exist.
- Limited use of navigational alphabetical bars are used since this is a short index.
- I have not indexed names of clients, colleges, or links because this is an index to the general content of the site.
